Officer Positions and Committees

President

Want to be on our team? We have elections once a year during the spring semester!

Below is a list of all our current officer positions and the tasks that they fill. If there is a position that you would like to fill, but is not on this page, let us know during the next meeting. Also, if you aren't an elected officer, you can always be an active member and serve on one of our committees (see below).

  • Be a Role Model

  • Lead membership by defining and pursuing the goals and objectives of chapter.

  • Delegate responsibilities.

  • Involve all members on committees and in activities and delegate and assign responsibilities.

  • Keep a list of objectives with dates and deadlines.

  • Establish regular meeting times for entire chapter and officers and advisors.

  • Serve as program chair for chapter 

  • Assist chairs of committees.

  • Assist the secretary in preparing report of chapter activities to send to Central Office.

  • Assist in making events and fundraising opportunities.

  • Fulfill the duties of the President, should the President be unable to attend a meeting or event.

Treasurer
Secretary
  • Work with our faculty advisor to submit financial reports and end-of-the-year report.

  • Establish a budget, which should be voted on during meetings.

  • Assist with the planning of fundraising functions.

  • Make sure members, officers, and faculty members are aware of awards.

  • Apply for any awards that are applicable for the chapter.

  • Find out what resources are available locally and Society-wide.

  • Must be able to make it to most (if not all) meetings.

  • Take and record minutes of each meeting.

  • Keep a list of all committees of the chapter.

  • Maintain all records of the chapter.

  • Compile list of email addresses of all chapter members.

  • Notify all members and advisors of place and time of meetings, elections, inductions, and other chapter activities

  • Help members complete online registration.

Public Relations
Student/Faculty Liaisons
  • Publicize all Psi Chi events, programs, and activities through email

  • ​Update all social media websites with Psi Chi events, programs, and activities.

    • Should be completed at least once a week.

  • Post all event posters around campus and/or delegate this task.

  • Notify all members and faculty advisor of place and time of meetings, elections, inductions, and other chapter activities. 

  • Must be an undergraduate student (at request of faculty).

  • Must be able to attend student/faculty meetings.

  • Inform faculty of the events Psi Chi is doing over the semester and get their insight and concerns about them.

  • Serve as liaison between members/psychology students and faculty members.

  • Student/Faculty Liaison positions include:

    • Colloquium​ Liaison

    • Assessment Liaison

    • Relations Committee Liaison

    • Psychology Club Liaison

Webmaster
  • Responsible for the chapter's website, including:

    • Website design​

    • Updating website with Psi Chi news, events, activities, and officer contact information

    • Website maintenance

    • Troubleshooting​

Active Member
  • Although active members are not officers, they are extremely important to our group!

  • Create events. These can be informational, volunteering, fundraising, etc.

  • Come up with new and exciting ideas that make us unique.

  • Write for our newsletter.

  • Attend meetings and events run by Psi Chi.

  • Encourage your friends to become active members.

  • Get involved on a committee.

Committees

Volunteer Committee
  • Find ways to volunteer as a group.

  • Plan at least 2 trips to volunteer per semester.

  • Advertise volunteer trips in the newsletter and on social media.

  • Document trips by writing about the experience in the newsletter.

Fundraising Committee
  • Plan fundraising activities to earn money for our chapter or a local non-profit.

  • Create at least 2 events per semester.

  • Make as much money as you can!

Central Psychology News Committee
  • The Lead Marketing Director is the head of this committee.

  • Write and assign articles to members.

  • Create a Professor Spotlight each month.

  • Assign editors to the newsletter.

  • Make sure that all psychology events are documented in the newsletter (can be from Psi Chi, Psych Club, Active Minds, the Psych Dept., etc).

Research Stories Initiative Committee
  • Send out applications for those who would like to present.

  • Read over applications and vote on who will present.

  • Responsible for selection of presenters and organization of the event.

  • Record the event and upload onto YouTube.

Podcast Committee
  • Assign members to interview professors.

  • Edit podcasts.

  • Post on website.

Membership committee
Induction Committee
  • Promote membership to Psi Chi to all qualified persons.

  • Organize Officer elections.

  • Make arrangements for induction ceremonies
